NSI proxy service.

This service also exists in Windows 10, 11, 7 and 8.

Windows Vista edition without SP SP1 SP2
Starter System System System
Home Basic System System System
Home Premium System System System
Business System System System
Ultimate System System System

Default Properties

Display name:NSI proxy service
Service name:nsiproxy
Type:kernel
Path:%WinDir%\system32\drivers\nsiproxy.sys
Error control:normal

Default Behavior

The NSI proxy service is a kernel mode driver. If NSI proxy service fails to start, the error is recorded into the Event Log. Windows Vista startup proceeds, but a message box is displayed informing you that the nsiproxy service has failed to start. At least one service depends on NSI proxy service. Therefore I do not recommend you to disable it.

Dependencies

If NSI proxy service is stopped, the Network Store Interface Service fails to start and initialize.
