Windows Presentation Foundation Font Cache 3.0.0.0 - Windows Vista Service

Optimizes performance of Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) applications by caching commonly used font data. WPF applications will start this service if it is not already running. It can be disabled, though doing so will degrade the performance of WPF applications.

This service also exists in Windows 7.

Default Behavior

The Windows Presentation Foundation Font Cache 3.0.0.0 service starts as NT Authority\LocalService and runs in its own process of PresentationFontCache.exe. It does not share its process with other services. If Windows Presentation Foundation Font Cache 3.0.0.0 fails to start, the error is recorded into the Event Log. Windows Vista startup proceeds, but a message box is displayed informing you that the FontCache3.0.0.0 service has failed to start.

1. Select your Windows Vista edition and Service Pack, and then click on the Download button below.

Note. Make sure that the PresentationFontCache.exe file exists in the %WinDir%\Microsoft.Net\Framework\v3.0\WPF folder. If this file is missing you can try to restore it from your Windows Vista installation media.
