The Offline Files Driver service is a kernel mode driver. If Offline Files Driver fails to start, the error is recorded into the Event Log. Windows Vista startup proceeds, but a message box is displayed informing you that the CSC service has failed to start.
Offline Files Driver will not start, if the Redirected Buffering Sub Sysytem service is stopped or disabled.
