SMB 1.x MiniRedirector - Windows 7 Service

Implements the SMB 1.x (CIFS) protocol. This protocol provides connectivity to network resources on pre-Windows Vista servers.

This service also exists in Windows 10, 11, 8 and Vista.

Default Behavior

The SMB 1.x MiniRedirector service is a file system driver. If the SMB 1.x MiniRedirector fails to load or initialize, the error is recorded into the Event Log. Windows 7 startup should proceed, but a message box is displayed informing you that the mrxsmb10 service has failed to start.

Dependencies

SMB 1.x MiniRedirector will not start, if the SMB MiniRedirector Wrapper and Engine service is stopped or disabled.

If the SMB 1.x MiniRedirector is stopped, the Workstation fails to start and initialize.

Restore Default Startup Type of SMB 1.x MiniRedirector

Automated Restore

1. Select your Windows 7 edition and Service Pack, and then click on the Download button below.

2. Save the RestoreSMB1xMiniRedirectorWindows7.bat file to any folder on your hard drive.

3. Right-click the downloaded batch file and select Run as administrator.

4. Restart the computer to save changes.

Note. Make sure that the mrxsmb10.sys file exists in the %WinDir%\system32\DRIVERS folder. If this file is missing you can try to restore it from your Windows 7 installation media.
