The Indexing Service can interact with the desktop, receiving input from users. If the Indexing Service fails to load or initialize, the error is recorded into the Event Log. Windows XP startup should proceed, but a message box is displayed informing you that the CiSvc service has failed to start.
Indexing Service will not start, if the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service is stopped or disabled.
