The Diagnostic Service Host is used by the Diagnostic Policy Service to host diagnostics that need to run in a Local Service context. If this service is stopped, any diagnostics that depend on it will no longer function.
|Windows 8 edition||Windows 8||Windows 8.1||Windows 8.1 Update 1|
|Display name:||Diagnostic Service Host|
|Path:||%WinDir%\System32\svchost.exe -k LocalService|
The Diagnostic Service Host runs as NT AUTHORITY\LocalService in a shared process of svchost.exe. Other services might run in the same process. If Diagnostic Service Host fails to start, the error is logged. Windows 8 startup proceeds, but a message box is displayed informing you that the WdiServiceHost service has failed to start.
